Current Work

Mike Wodrich is a glass artist and sculptor working out of his studio in the San Marco neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. Mike works with a broad range of materials including glass, steel, stone , wood, and ceramics and often includes found and ready made  objects of industrial and vintage origin. Each work is one of a kind and, in the surrealist tradition, is tinged with irrationality and subliminal energy, as well as a dose of the paranormal. Intrinsic to each work is an examination of how our Paleolithic mind copes with the complexity of modern life.

Mike’s educational background includes an undergraduate degree in anthropology and current university based volunteer work in archeology.  This background has inspired the creation of fused glass tribal masks as a means of animating the inanimate and illustrating the cultural power of traditional animist symbols.

Stop by the studio and witness the magic being conjured, always in at least three dimensions.
